Deleting a company removes its books for good. Before you start, download any reports you need to keep for tax records. Then go to Settings, and scroll to Delete this company at the bottom. Only an owner can do this, and you need to have signed in with two-step sign-in. Click Delete, followed by your company's name. Check the box to confirm you've downloaded what you need to keep. Then type your company's name, exactly as shown. Changed your mind? Click Cancel, and nothing is deleted. Click Delete permanently. Balancivo disconnects your banks, removes stored files, and then deletes the books. When it's done, Balancivo opens your other books. The deleted company is gone for good, so take your time before that last step.
Deleting a company permanently removes its accounts, transactions, payroll, invoices, reports, change history, and stored statements and receipts. Bank connections are disconnected, and everyone on the team loses access. This can't be undone, and Balancivo can't restore it.
Before you start
- Download anything you need to keep for tax records. Use Download CSV and Print or save PDF on each report page. See Print a financial statements package.
- Make sure you signed in with two-step sign-in. See Set up two-step sign-in and automatic sign-out.
Steps
- Go to Settings and scroll to Delete this company at the bottom.
- Click Delete, followed by your company's name.
- Check I've downloaded what I need to keep.
- Type your company's name exactly as shown, to confirm.
- Click Delete permanently. Balancivo disconnects your banks, removes stored files, and then deletes the books. Click Cancel instead if you change your mind.
Good to know
- Only the owner who created the company can delete it. Other owners see who that is. Bookkeepers don't see this section.
- If you see a message asking you to sign in with two-step verification, sign out, sign in again, and enter your authenticator code.
- If a bank can't be disconnected, nothing is deleted. Try again, or disconnect it on the Accounts page first.
- Deleting a company doesn't cancel your subscription. Stripe keeps charging until it's canceled. If you don't need Balancivo for anything else, click Cancel or change the subscription before you delete. See Manage your subscription and plan usage.
- If you belong to other organizations, they aren't affected.
