Sign in with a passkey (fingerprint or face)
Create a passkey so you can sign in with your fingerprint, face or device PIN instead of typing your password.

Tired of typing your password? A passkey lets you sign in with your fingerprint, your face, or your device's PIN. In Settings, under Sign in with fingerprint or face, click Create a passkey. Your device asks you to confirm, just like unlocking it. Then Balancivo shows Passkey saved, and lists it here. Next time, on the sign-in page, click Use a passkey instead of typing your password. Owners still enter the code from their authenticator app, so the books stay protected. And you're in. Your password still works whenever a passkey isn't handy.
A passkey lets you sign in without typing your password. When you sign in, your phone or computer asks for your fingerprint, your face or its PIN, the same way it unlocks. Balancivo never receives or stores your fingerprint or face; your device only proves it's you.
If you don't see Use a passkey on the sign-in page or Sign in with fingerprint or face in Settings, passkeys aren't available on Balancivo yet. Sign in with your password and two-step code as usual.
Before you start
- Use a device with a fingerprint reader, face unlock or a PIN: an iPhone, iPad or Mac (Touch ID or Face ID), a Windows computer (Windows Hello), or an Android phone.
- Sign in to Balancivo the usual way first, with your password.
Steps
- Go to Settings and find Sign in with fingerprint or face.
- Click Create a passkey. Your device asks you to confirm with your fingerprint, face or PIN. Do that.
- Look for "Passkey saved." The passkey appears in the list with the date you added it.
- Next time you sign in, click Use a passkey (fingerprint or face) on the sign-in page instead of typing your password, and confirm on your device.
- If two-step sign-in is on (owners always have it), Balancivo still asks for the 6-digit code from your authenticator app after the passkey. Enter it and click Verify code.
Good to know
- A passkey works on the device where you made it, and on your other devices where your passkeys sync: iCloud Keychain on Apple devices, Google Password Manager on Android and Chrome, or your Windows account.
- On another device that doesn't have it, click Add a passkey on this device in the same section after signing in with your password.
- Your password still works. Use it whenever a passkey isn't handy.
- To remove a passkey, click Delete next to it in Settings. Also remove it from your device's saved passkeys (passwords or keychain settings).
- If you see "No passkey for Balancivo was found," sign in with your password and create one in Settings.
- Each person creates their own passkey. A passkey only signs in its owner; it doesn't change what you can do in the books.
- To turn on the 6-digit code, see Turn on two-step sign-in. For automatic sign-out, see Set up two-step sign-in and automatic sign-out.
