Add or switch organizations

Keep books for more than one business, church or nonprofit, and move between them from the side menu.

Each business, church or nonprofit you keep books for is its own organization. Its name sits at the top of the side menu. To switch, open this list and pick the organization you want. Balancivo opens that organization's books right away, with its own accounts, categories and reports. To start another one, choose New organization at the bottom of the list. Type the name, and pick Business or Church or ministry. That sets up its starting categories. Click Create, and your new organization is ready to set up, with you as its owner. Each plan covers a set number of organizations. The usage panel and the note at the top show when you've used them all. The bottom of the side menu shows your role in the organization that's open: Owner or Bookkeeper. Balancivo remembers the last organization you opened, so it's there next time you sign in.

If you keep books for more than one business, church or nonprofit, each one is its own organization with its own accounts, categories and reports. Use the organization switcher at the top of the side menu to move between them or start a new one.

Steps to switch

Find your organization's name at the top of the side menu, under the Balancivo logo.
Open the Organization list and pick the organization you want. Its books open right away.

Steps to add an organization

Start a new one. If you have one organization, click + New organization under its name. If you have several, open the list and choose + New organization…
Type the name in New organization.
Pick the Kind: Business or Church or ministry.
Click Create. Or click Cancel to go back.

Good to know

Balancivo remembers the last organization you opened in this browser.
You become the owner of each organization you create, so two-step sign-in is required. See Turn on two-step sign-in.
The free trial covers one organization. Starter and Standard cover 1 organization; Plus covers 3. If you go over, you'll see a message asking you to subscribe or upgrade. See Your free trial, plans and usage.
One person can create up to 10 organizations. Contact support to add more.
Organizations you were invited to and accepted show in the same list. The bottom of the side menu shows your role in the open organization: Owner or Bookkeeper.
