Open Balance sheet from the Reports part of the menu. It opens on the end of last month. These buttons pick another date, like today or the end of last year. Click Pick a date to see the balance sheet for any day. If anything still needs categorizing or closing, a note up top tells you, with a link to fix it. Assets shows what you own. Here, that's the money in the business checking account. Below that is what you owe, and your equity: your starting balance plus what you've earned since. Total assets should always equal total liabilities and equity. Download CSV gives you a spreadsheet. Or click Print or save PDF for a copy you can share.
The Balance sheet shows your assets, liabilities, and equity on one date. Use it at month-end, at year-end, or whenever a lender or board asks where things stand.
Steps
- Go to Balance sheet in the Reports part of the menu.
- Pick the date. Choose Today, End of last month, End of last quarter, End of last year, or Pick a date. With Pick a date, set the As of date.
- Check the notes above the report. They tell you if transactions are still uncategorized (with a link to categorize them) or if months aren't closed yet (with a Go to Month close link).
- Read the report. You'll see Assets and Total assets, then Liabilities, Equity, and Total liabilities and equity.
- Click Download CSV for a spreadsheet, or Print or save PDF for a printed copy or PDF.
Good to know
- The page opens on End of last month.
- Total assets should equal total liabilities and equity. If they don't, a red note says how much it's off by.
- Uncategorized transactions are still counted in net income, as money in or money out.
- Equity includes the opening balance, owner contributions and draws, and net income since the books started.
- If you see Transfers to accounts not in Balancivo, money moved to an account you haven't added yet. Add that account to replace the line.
- The report is on the cash basis.
- For a church, this page is the Statement of Financial Position: it shows Net assets, split into Without donor restrictions (General) and With donor restrictions (restricted funds), as nonprofit standards ask. The financial statements package uses the same wording.
